Lights and lasers flash in the distance as the bass echoes through Dallas Market Hall. I notice the orchestrated lights as I leave the parking garage and walk toward the venue. I’m stoked as I enter Lights All Night, Dallas’ annual New Year’s Eve festival that celebrates Electronic Dance Music. P.L.U.R., the raver’s mantra of Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect, is in the air and excitement can be seen on the faces waiting to pass through security. Awaiting inside was the ultimate bash to bring in 2017.
The long work week that kicked everyone’s ass is finally over. The time cards have been updated, the pre-gaming has begun, and the Dallas-Fort Worth nightlife begins to take formation. Sprawling across 13 counties, DFW has numerous options to forget the work week. For some, this weekend brought an escape to the ghoulish world of Boo! Dallas, presented by Insomniac Events and C3 Concerts.
Saturday is a family day at the Webb household. The fast paced routine of the week slows down just enough to relax and enjoy something I am most passionate about. Music. Damn, I love music. It literally consumes me. It can be complicated, sophisticated or have no rhyme or reason to it. What matters, is that a tune can find a home in head of an unsuspecting listener and fill them with emotion. Music is powerful.
