Sunday Selections: October 23rd

What’s up EDM DFW Family. It’s been an exciting week in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Insomniac Events and C3 Concerts brought Boo! to Dallas, Tritonal and TJR rocked Stereo Live Dallas, and Big Wiener Presents hosted Get Schwifty.  There was a lot going on and no doubt there were great tunes on your journey throughout the city.

Sunday Selections are tracks recommended by EDM DFW Family members. These suggestions come from all sorts of places and conversations. I love the fact I can discover new songs and musicians each and every day.  Music discovery is an infinite journey.

Salute to music.

Slim ThugPeaceful: The Boss provides insight on how he deals with the everyday stress and struggles. The Houston, Texas artist reminds you that “everyone deserves a place that’s peaceful.”  I agree.

Maceo Plex– Journey to Solar EP: Eric Estornel, Maceo Plex, released a seven track EP that was suggested by Chicago native Mario Corrales. Mario is passionate about techno and I caught this gem in his Snapchat feed. Living in the home of house music and only a few hours drive from the birthplace of techno, Detroit, Michigan, Mario is surrounded by the history that started this sound.

Luke BryanCountry Girl (Shake it For Me): It’s not Texas, without country music right? It seems Luke Bryan wants his country girl to shake it.  Now that’s a message I can get behind.  Salute to you homie.  This submission comes from my favorite country girl, Slammer.  Ladies, turn up with you girlfriends and shake it!

Anderson Paak & KnxwledgeNxWorries: Enough can’t be said about the legendary Stones Throw Records. I was hipped to Stones Throw through a cult classic video game Tony Hawk Underground. Anderson Paak and Knxwledge collaborate on a soulful track lacing the listener with the thought process of a situation we all can relate to.

Jalen Santoy-Foreplay:  The Charlotte, NC artist exercises his use of story telling over jazz influenced rhythms.  The story telling capabilities he employs are reminiscent of blues singers sharing their stories.. EDM DFW contributor, Nel C submits this smooth single.
